E-Tac vs E-Lite: Which is the right stock for me?

E-Tac vs E-Lite: Which is the right stock for me?

We get quite a few inquiries from customers asking us which stock we would recommend for them. The most common dilemma of recent is whether to go for the PSE E-Tac stock or the PSE E-Lite stock. There are many similarities but also a few differences that may be important when making the decision on which stock to go for. Here we will fly through some of the main similarities/differences.

Firstly it is important to note that the PSE E-Tac stock is available for the following systems:

  • Remington 700 Short Action and clones
  • Remington 700 Long Action and clones
  • Tikka T3/T3X (standard floor plate)
  • Tikka T3/T3X CTR (CTR floor plate or the Atlasworxs AICS/CTR floor plate)
  • Schultz & Larsen Tactical (through Schultz & Larsen Retailers)
  • Schultz & Larsen Victory (through Schultz & Larsen Retailers)

The PSE E-Lite stock is available for the following systems:

The PSE E-Lite will soon be made available for the Remington 700 and clones.

Some Similarities

  1. Adjustable Cheek Raiser: The cheek raiser system is the same on both the E-Lite and E-Tac stocks.
  2. Lightweight LOP Spacer System The length-of-pull spacer system is the same on both stocks.
  3. Build Materials: Both stocks are hand-made using high quality carbon fibre and composite materials. The have built-in carbon fibre pillars and our unique ICS technology - Internal Carbon Structure. This is like a carbon skeleton in the stock making it very torsion stiff and thus improving the shooting performance of your rifle.

Some Differences

  1. Barrel Channel: PSE E-Tac stocks have a straight 35mm barrel channel from the action forward. These will take very heavy barrels. PSE E-Lite stocks are not as wide. The will take up to a Tikka Varmint barrel.
  2. Weight: E-Tac stocks come in 2 options - Ultra light or Mil Spec. The UL stocks weigh approx. 930/950 grams (32 oz) and the Mil Spec stocks around 1100 grams (39 oz). E-Lite stocks weigh approx. 850 grams (30 oz) (for Tikka T3/T3x).
  3. For-end: These stocks have different for-ends. The E-Tac has a wider for-end with flat sides to allow the option of mounting rails/accessories. It is also longer than the E-Lite stock. It may therefore be better suited for tactical applications or for PRS style shooting.
  4. Pistol Grip: The E-Tac stock has a steeper and slightly bulkier pistol grip with the renowned PSE pentagon shape fore muscle memory. The E-Lite also has a pentagon-shaped pistol grip but is less steep and more designed for quick handling for example when on driven hunts. It is more like a traditional hunting stock shape but retains some of the features that people love on our E-Tac range.

Overall it is down to personal preference. Of course the E-Lite may be more suited to mountain hunting but we have many customers that manage just as well with the E-Tac - after all the weight difference is not too large. We also find an increased number of customers using the E-Lite stock for competitive shooting, for example in PRS competitions.

Both types of stock can be customised in terms of specification - colour / stock attachments / rails / etc.

Please contact us if you have any further questions on any of our stock models.

Thank you.
